MIKA YAMAGUCHI
Mika is a registered architect from the island of Maui whose practice includes a broad range of projects at a variety of scales. From building street furniture in Los Angeles with LA Mas to a Project Architect role on a 757-unit multifamily development in Washington, DC with ZGF Architects, she has contributed to projects across the Pacific and the United States. With a passion for community-building and resilience, Mika has a breadth of experience as a design partner with non-profit organizations. A collectivist at heart, she enjoys working alongside clients, stakeholders, and user groups through thoughtful and adaptive processes. Her holistic approach and sensitivity to detail lead to creative architectural solutions, striving to be both functional and elegant.
Beyond the studio, Mika is an advocate for energy equity, collective ownership and development, care for the public realm, cycling and pedestrian infrastructure. She is an avid runner, cyclist, and beachgoer.
Mika holds a Master of Architecture from the University of Toronto John H. Daniels faculty of Architecture, Landscape, and Design and a Bachelors in Psychology from Queen’s University. She is a member of the American Institute of Architects and National Organization of Minority Architects, and maintains an ILFI Living Futures Accreditation.
